General Information

• In order to take Online courses you need to be admitted to Pierpont Community & Technical College.
  • For an undergraduate application for admission, call 304.367.4892, or obtain one online at www.pierpont.edu/admissions/undergraduate/applying.asp

Accessing Online Courses

To access an online course,

• 1. Go to: http://online.fairmontstate.edu
  2. At the Institution Listing, Pierpont C&TC students must select the Fairmont State link.
  3. On the Fairmont State Entry Page, click the Log In button.
  4. On the Fairmont State Log In page, enter your UCA account and password. If you have not done so already, you can activate your account here.
  5. Once you are logged on you will be at the My Blackboard page, where you will see links to your online courses.
  6. Select the hyperlink of the course name to access your course.

Students taking online courses are required to have reliable access to a computer and the Internet as well as a mastery of basic computer skills.

• Taking an online class requires, among other things, that students be independent learners capable of meeting established deadlines. To learn more about the characteristics of successful online learners, click here.
• If you have any questions about individual courses contact the instructor for that course.
• Unless otherwise stated by the instructor for your online course, you will have access to your course content beginning October 17.

Blackboard Vista

All online courses are administered through Blackboard Vista. Blackboard Vista is a fully integrated, web-based virtual course environment, which is available to all students at Pierpont C&TC. To access an online course,

1. Go to http://online.fairmontstate.edu (Note: if you are going to set a bookmark, set it for this URL on this step)
2. At the Institution Listing, Pierpont students must select the Fairmont State link.
3. On the Fairmont State Entry Page, click the Log In button.
4. On the Fairmont State Log In page, enter your Unified College Account and password. (If you have not done so already, you can activate your account here.)
5. Once you are logged on, you will be at the My Blackboard page, where you will see links to your online courses.
6. Select the hyperlink of the course name to access your course
