Self-Assessment

It is important and beneficial to understand who you are as a person and professional. Using self-assessment tools will allow you to evaluate yourself and provide you with a better understanding of your interests, skills, values, and personality. Self-assessment does NOT tell you what to be; however, it does provide insight to the relationships between your individual characteristics and the aspects of career industries and occupations.

Remember as you go through self-assessment, the results provide you with important information for your career excursion and decision making process. The information obtained is NOT final because you will develop as an individual as you gain various experiences throughout your life. One of the most important aspects of self-assessment is becoming more aware of who you are and why you do what you do. As you become more aware of these things, you will become more effective with your actions and decisions.

The self-assessment tools listed below will allow you to begin learning who you are. After gaining some personal insight, a career services counselor can help you to further analyze this information and what it means. If you are interested in meeting with a counselor, bring some of the results with you to the career services office during regular business hours or make an appointment to assure availability.
