Pierpont Community & Technical College is expanding its course offerings at the Monongalia County Technical Education Center (MTEC) in Morgantown. Students interested in registering for fall classes are encouraged to take advantage of upcoming “Registration Express” events at MTEC.
Registration Express events will be held Saturday, July 20, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Monday, July 29, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Successful candidates for the two-year AAS Degree Program in Petroleum Technology come from all backgrounds. This highly technical, in-demand career offers entry-level salaries of $35 to $60K annually with significant opportunity for advancement in both salary and position. Graduates can expect many career options ranging from Production and Drilling to Petroleum Services and Engineering Support and related fields.
Pierpont Community & Technical College is accepting applications for a free eight-week program designed to train entry-level workers in the fundamental skills required for jobs in the aircraft assembly industry. No aviation experience is required; however preference is given to individuals with tool and/or mechanical experience.
The Office of Enrollment Services will be relocating to the newly renovated Turley Center, between Hardway Hall and Wallman. Students will have an opportunity to obtain services in a “one-stop shop” location.
As part of the Turley Student Services Center move-in, Enrollment Services will be closed the first week of July.
Pierpont Community & Technical College has recognized the following students for outstanding academic achievement during the Spring 2013 semester. Those students earning a 3.4 or better grade point average have been named to the Dean’s List. Those achieving a perfect 4.0 grade point average have been named to the President’s List.
Pierpont President’s List:
The Community and Technical College System of West Virginia (WVCTCS) will announce the launch of the Appalachian Petroleum Technology Training Center at the Robert H. Mollohan Center at the I-79 Technology Park. Governor Earl Ray Tomblin will deliver an official announcement of the Center and speak to the economic and workforce development potential it will have on the State of West Virginia.
Pierpont Community & Technical College is teaming with the Julia Pierpont Society, the City of Fairmont Historical Landmarks Commission, the Marion County Historical Society, and the Woodlawn Cemetery Historic District to host the 9th Annual Julia Pierpont Day Celebration, Saturday, May 25, 2013.

Students who have completed their work and met the requirements to earn their degrees from Pierpont Community & Technical College this academic year will be marking their achievement at Pierpont’s 2012-2013 Spring Commencement exercises, Friday, May 10, 2013. The ceremony will be held in the Feaster Center on the shared campus of Pierpont and Fairmont State in Fairmont beginning at 6:30 p.m. A reception will immediately follow the ceremony.
Robert (Bob) Tinnell, writer, director, producer and co-owner of Allegheny Image Factory will serve as commencement speaker.
Pierpont Community & Technical College has inducted outstanding students into the Alpha Tau Pi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society that recognizes the academic achievement of two-year college students.
Membership in Phi Theta Kappa is based on superior academic achievement and is conferred only by invitation of the local chapter.
This fall, Pierpont Community & Technical College will offer a brand new humanities course that focuses on helping students develop a global understanding of work-related issues and their personal relationship to those issues. Through the study of literary works, the class will emphasize West Virginia industries and the same or similar industries in other parts of the U.S. and around the world.
Thursday, March 28, 2013, Pierpont Community & Technical College is hosting its third annual Veterans 5K (formerly known as the Making Connections 5K) to raise funding and awareness for veterans’ education. On-line registration is underway at www.pierpont.edu/veterans5K and runners/walkers can also register the day of the race. Race day registration will run from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Veterans’ Square in downtown Fairmont.
Two Pierpont Community & Technical College programs have been identified as “Exemplary” by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation Accrediting Commission (ACFEFAC).
Both the AAS Degree in Food Service Management – Baking and Pastry Specialization and AAS Degree in Food Service Management – Culinary Arts Specialization programs received the ranking as a result of their most recent reaccreditation visits from the ACFEFAC.
The American Culinary Federation West Virginia Chapter has named Pierpont Community & Technical College faculty member, Jay Mahoney, CEC, the 2012 West Virginia Chef of the Year.
