Biography:
I am a native of Fairmont, graduating from Fairmont Senior High School in 2001. I am currently a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Safety and Environmental Engineering Technology. I am serving a consecutive term as President of American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Student Chapter. I recently received the foundation scholarship from ASSE sponsored by United Parcel Services (UPS), which included a trip to the Professional Development Conference in Las Vegas, Nev. I have been curious about the relationship between the technological advancement of our society and the safety ramifications. Therefore, I reached out for practical experience, as well as theoretical classroom experience. I did student internships at Honda of America Manufacturing in Marysville, Ohio, in Industrial Hygiene and also at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, N.M., in safety engineering. My future plans include graduating in July of 2005, and to get my master's degree in Safety Management.
Why did you choose to attend Fairmont State?:
I chose Fairmont State because it is one of 50 schools nationally that offer a Safety Engineering/Occupational Safety and Health undergraduate program. In addition, Fairmont State offers smaller class sizes, which was extremely appealing to me.
What do you like best about Fairmont State?:
What I like best about Fairmont State is that the faculty and staff are very willing to support you in your classroom setting, along with applying your knowledge to the work force, while continuing your education.
