The workshop is planned for 1 to 4 p.m. March 16 at the Fairmont State University Gaston Caperton Center, 501 West Main St., Room 137, Clarksburg.

The workshop addresses the following topics: getting started; choosing a location; choosing a structure; selecting insurance; knowing your market; advertising your business; keeping your books; the business plan; state, local and federal taxes; and financing your business. The finance section will be facilitated by a highly experienced leader who is an SBA microloan lender and available to answer general questions.
The West Virginia Small Business Development Center, supported by the West Virginia Development Office, works with colleges, universities and other host institutions to provide free business consulting and technical assistance statewide. Pierpont Community & Technical College hosts the regional SBDC office in Fairmont.
The SBDC is a program supported by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and extended to the public on a non-discriminatory basis.
