People interested in entry-level opportunities in the booming oil and gas industry can pursue training through Pierpont Community & Technical College.
Pierpont is currently accepting applications for its Floorhand Training for Oil and Gas Drilling, with classes to run Monday, March 26 through Thursday, March 29, 2012, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day. The training will be offered at Pierpont’s Center for Workforce Education in downtown Fairmont.
The RigPass Certification training, approved by the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC), prepares individuals for a job in the rapidly expanding oil and gas industry. Participants will learn the basic safe working practices and operational requirements essential to working on a drilling site. Hands-on training on an actual drilling rig simulator is an integral part of the training program.
Instructors for the course are Wayne Vanderhoof and Matt Wyatt.
