October 2011
Dear Pierpont colleague,
Last year, for the first time ever, Pierpont Community & Technical College participated as a “stand-alone” higher education institution in the United Way Campaign. I am proud to report that we totaled over $6,000 in contributions from Pierpont in that Campaign. As I did last year, I am setting the Pierpont goal at 100% participation.
The United Way recommends that you consider a pledge of one hour’s salary per month, or more if you are able. You can give a one-time gift or you can set up a gift to be taken through payroll deduction throughout the year. To achieve the Pierpont goal of 100% participation, I ask that you return your pledge form to your coordinator with any donation that is right for you. Even if you cannot donate anything at this time, by returning the form with that notation, you help us to achieve our participation/response goal.
This year’s Marion County monetary goal is $410,000 set by our Campaign co-chairs Barbara and Alan Mollohan. (If you live and work in another county, you can note on the form if you wish to have your contribution go to another county’s campaign.)
The United Way is able to leverage your donations to our most needy neighbors and the most effective local agencies. The information in the enclosed brochure gives just a few examples the impact of United Way funding on agencies in our neighborhoods that are focused on assisting our neighbors.
I have found in my short time here in West Virginia that we take care of our families and our neighbors. Please consider a donation to the United Way on behalf of the “Pierpont family.”
Thank you for your commitment and support!
Sincerely,

Doreen M. Larson, Ph. D.
