Math/Writing Course Support Lab

The Developmental Skills courses (Math 0080 and English 0097) offered in the School of Academic Studies are designed to help students develop the academic skills necessary for college and career success.  Although any course designated as "developmental skills" does not count for college credit toward graduation, the courses do count toward a student's full-time status.  It is important that students complete any required Developmental Skills courses within their first 32 credit hours, and ideally before the end of their first year of college.

Students are also strongly encouraged to enroll in their subsequent college credit English and Math courses immediately upon successful completion of the Developmental Skills courses.  Those college credit English and Math courses make up the required credit hours in all students' General Education requirements and should be completed as soon as possible.

All developmental skills courses are "CREDIT" or "NO CREDIT" courses; they do not count toward graduation credits, but they do count toward a student’s full-time status for all other institutional purposes, including financial aid.

In addition to providing developmental skills courses, the School of Academic Studiesoffers all students a bright, comfortable, inviting area in which they may receive tutoring, encouragement, and academic support from support staff and faculty. The lab has personal computers designated for students completing assignments for developmental math or English as well as placement testing.
