Liberal Studies - Museum Studies Concentration (Associate of Arts Degree)
Museum Studies (Advanced Skill Set Certificate)

MUSEUM STUDIES
In collaboration with the Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center and the School of Human Services Folklife Studies program, this A.A. in Liberal Studies with a Museum Studies concentration provides students the opportunity to complete a Museum Studies Advanced Skill Set while completing course work that will satisfy General Education requirements of an Associate degree.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Current area economic trends indicate that heritage tourism, regional travel, craft marketing, historic preservation, and the general promotion of the region's natural resources (whitewater rafting, skiing, hiking, etc.) are not only the fastest growing segments of the economic base, but will also set the direction for future regional change and stability. Interest in traditional folk arts and crafts has broad based appeal and can provide potential employment opportunities for individuals. State and regional historic tourism, as well as interest in local history and genealogy has created job opportunities in many related businesses and non-profits. There are also opportunities for personal enrichment and local volunteer work related to regional history and preservation.
