Students may call the WV Tobacco Quit Line 1-877-966-8784 for help.
Participants of the Quit Line are eligible to receive the following services:
The Process
First call the Quit Line at 1-877-966-8784.
You do not have to attend one of the Kaiser Permanente (KP) Tools to Quit workshops to qualify for free services from the Quitline. However, anyone who calls the Quitline and does not qualify to receive their free services, can attend one of the Kaiser Permanente (KP) Tools to Quit workshops and they will automatically qualify for WV Quitline services.
A trained Tobacco Cessation Specialist will assist in determining the services best for the participant and complete the enrollment process by asking a series of questions. Participants are screened for desire and motivation and must be willing to commit to the program. Educational materials are mailed within two business days of enrollment. For more information contact: Beverly Keener at 304-366-3360, extension 24. or email her at beverly.h.keener@wv.gov.
Also, check out the WV Quitline online.
Free Patches
The waiver enclosed in the educational mailing must be completed and returned to the Quit Line with a copy of identification for age verification. Enrollee must provide a photocopy of student ID. If necessary, physician's consent will be obtained by the Quit Line staff. A phone coach will contact the participant for further support, motivation and education. Evaluation is conducted six months after enrollment to determine quit rates and program satisfaction.
