A Celebration of Community:
Pierpont Community and Technical College is delighted to offer a series of events and celebrations during
“Your Community’s College Week,” a week-long celebration of community and collaboration beginning on Monday, November 11.
The week is filled with events and activities for all ages, and we invite you to experience all that Pierpont has to offer the North Central West Virginia region and beyond.
The events lead up to the investiture ceremony of Pierpont President, Dr. Milan Hayward, on Thursday, November 14. We invite our campus and community to join us for the investiture ceremony in person or via livestream.

Schedule of Events:
Monday, November 11
Join Pierpont Community and Technical College faculty, staff, and students in a variety of volunteer projects around Marion County. All events are free and open to the public.
Union Mission Project
Volunteers will assist with wrapping presents in preparation for the Children’s Christmas Party at Union Rescue Mission, scheduled for December 14th. This wrapping project will ensure that gifts are ready for the children in the area.

Blessing Boxes
Volunteers will meet at our main campus, located at 500 Galliher Drive, Fairmont, WV 26554 to pick up canned goods for delivery. After gathering, participants will distribute the items to blessing boxes at various locations near our college campuses, helping to provide essential food items to those in need. Volunteers are responsible for providing their own transportation to the delivery sites. Delivery sites will be provided to volunteers.

This course provides the general public with essential knowledge and skills to effectively stop a bleed following an injury, reducing the risk of death in emergency situations. Ages 12 and up.

Exploring Deaf History and Culture

Introduction to Medical Coding

This course provides an overview of how to address sensory challenges in interior design. Participants will explore the importance of considering hyper- or hypo-stimulation factors in creating multi-sensory environments that positively impact the occupants of homes, schools, workplaces, and public spaces. About Pierpont President, Dr. Milan Hayward:
Dr. Milan S. Hayward began his tenure at Pierpont Community and Technical College in July 2023.
Prior to his time at Pierpont, Hayward served as Vice President of the School of Career and Corporate Training at Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke, Virginia from 2016 to 2023. He brings years of experience in higher education as a guest scholar for Old Dominion University (VA), Executive Director of
Grants and Special Projects for Northern Virginia Community College, and director of a seven-college national consortium leading a “Credential to Careers” grant for Northern Virginia CC.
While at Northern Virginia Community College, Dr. Hayward also served as special assistant in Academic Affairs for Career and Technical Education, dean of science and applied technologies, and as the program director and faculty member in the automotive technology program.

Investiture Ceremony - FAQs:
The Investiture Ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 14 at 3:00 p.m. EST. A reception will immediately follow.
Due to heavy traffic that may occur prior to event, we recommend guests arrive no later than 2:30 p.m.
Faculty, staff, and ushurs should arrive no later than 2:00 p.m. for line up.
The Investiture Ceremony will be held at the White Hall Event Center – 2600 Middletown Commons, Suite 128, Whitehall, WV 26554.
The ceremony will last approximately two hours. A reception will immediately follow.
We welcome our campus and community to attend the event. If you plan to attend, we kindly request your reservation by Friday, November 1.

Community members, staff, and ushers should dress in business casual. Faculty that are processing should dress in academic regalia. Students are welcome to wear their favorite Pierpont shirt.
