Debra is a Senior Professor of English and Writing Coordinator for Pierpont C&TC. She holds a BA in English and an MA in English Education from West Virginia University. She has taught English in higher education for over 30 years after having taught for several years in the public school system. She was an Assistant Professor of Writing at Alderson Broaddus University before accepting her position at Pierpont in 2003. She has won the Paul Edwards Excellence in Teaching Award ( 2011) and the The Harold & Roselyn Williamson Straight Excellence in Teaching Award (2016). She is the author of the children’s book, Season of Play, which won a Mom’s Choice Award and a Next Generation Indie Book Finalist Award.
