The Pierpont Foundation will award more than $50,000 in scholarships to Pierpont Community & Technical College students for fall 2022 and spring 2023.

Students in all programs will be eligible for funds that will be distributed through the college’s financial aid department, which will focus on students with the highest financial need.

Endowed scholarship funds include the J.T. Honce Memorial Scholarship; the Paul E. Edwards Physical Therapist Assistant Scholarship; the Southwestern Energy Company Scholars Program; and the Ruth Marie Skaggs Endowed Scholarship.

Students will also receive scholarships from a variety of non-endowed funds, including the Mike Ross Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to students enrolled in any Pierpont program who have financial need.

“We want to thank our donors who have shown generosity of both funds and spirit in creating these scholarship opportunities for our students,” said Pierpont Interim President Anthony Hancock. “This support allows our students to achieve an education and secure their future.”

Scholarship funds were provided through the Pierpont Foundation, Inc., the nonprofit organization that solicits and administers private donations on behalf of Pierpont Community & Technical College. Nearly $100,000 in scholarships have been donated or pledged over a three- to five-year period since the Pierpont Foundation began operating independently in November 2021.

Endowed scholarships are invested, last in perpetuity and can be established with a $25,00 donation over five years, while non-endowed, named scholarships can be established with a pledge of $1,000 or more a year for five years. The Pierpont Foundation also accepts one-time scholarship gifts.
