FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Pierpont Community & Technical College is preparing for the upcoming fall term with a continued focus on welcoming new and returning students and ensuring access to the support services needed for success.
College officials said admissions and enrollment efforts remain strong, with outreach and student support initiatives designed to help students complete the enrollment process and begin the fall semester with confidence.
Throughout the summer, the college has offered a range of opportunities designed to make enrollment and support services more accessible. That work includes nearly 80 scheduled orientation sessions, with additional sessions planned through the start of the fall term to accommodate continued interest.
Pierpont also offers individualized Discover Pierpont campus visits, giving prospective students and their families the opportunity to explore programs, ask questions and connect directly with staff.
This month, the college is taking its outreach into the community through its “Coffee & Convos” series, meeting students in local settings across its service region. Staff will be available in Lewis and Braxton counties on July 1, in Barbour County on July 7, and in Monongalia County on July 22, with morning and afternoon sessions scheduled to accommodate prospective and current students.
“Student success depends on consistent support and clear guidance,” said Nancy Parks, associate vice president of student services. “For many adult learners, that means balancing work, family and school, and our role is to make sure they have the resources and direction needed to keep progressing toward their goals.”
Pierpont continues to strengthen its student support network through specialized advising and community partnerships. The college has dedicated advising support for Region IV Workforce participants.
Career Services has also expanded its offerings, connecting students with job opportunities, career planning resources and employer partnerships aligned with regional workforce needs.
As WV WORKS programs funded through the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) initiative continue to move through the state’s funding and contracting process, Pierpont remains focused on ensuring students have uninterrupted access to advising, financial aid guidance and support services.
College officials said these efforts reflect Pierpont’s ongoing commitment to supporting both traditional students and adult learners at every stage — from initial interest through graduation and into the workforce.
“Our focus is on helping students move forward and achieve their goals,” said Dr. Michael Waide, president. “That means creating clear pathways, providing strong support and connecting students to opportunities that lead to meaningful careers and long-term success.”
