FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Pierpont Community & Technical College will host two Fall Harvest Farmers’ Markets this month, bringing local farmers, makers and small businesses to its Fairmont and Clarksburg locations.
Hosted by Pierpont’s Student Services department, the markets will provide opportunities for students, employees and community members to shop for locally grown produce, baked goods, handcrafted items and other seasonal products while supporting local vendors.
“One of the best parts of planning these markets has been seeing local farmers, makers and small businesses connect with our students and employees,” said Skylar Thompson, Admissions and Advising Specialist at Pierpont. “These events create opportunities for people to shop locally, discover new vendors and spend time together on campus. We’re excited to welcome the community and celebrate the talent and entrepreneurship that exists throughout our region.”
The first market will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at the Advanced Technology Center, 500 Galliher Drive, Fairmont.
The second market will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at the Clarksburg Campus, 501 W. Main St., Clarksburg.
“The farmers markets are about creating connections,” said Nancy Parks, Associate Vice President of Student Services. “They allow our students to engage with the community while supporting local businesses and producers. Events like these help make our campuses more welcoming, strengthen community partnerships and provide experiences that extend beyond the classroom.”
The Fall Harvest Farmers Markets continue Pierpont’s efforts to create opportunities to connect education, workforce development and community.
