Student Activities at Pierpont Community & Technical College is a way students can leave their mark on our institution.
The student activities mission statement is, “to foster student success and promote an engaged campus community through participation in co-curricular activities, student organizations, and student government. This enables productive citizenship through leadership opportunities, diversity awareness, ethical decision making, and problem solving”.
With activities occurring regularly both on-campus and virtually, there is something for everyone to get involved!
Some popular past activities include the Diversity Summit, Welcome Week, and Finals Week De-Stress Fest.
Student Government Association
About Us
Student Government actively seeks to supplement the academic atmosphere with intellectual, cultural, and social activities. Student Government members are involved in all aspects of life on campus at Pierpont Community & Technical College and work cooperatively with the college administration.
Every segment of the student body is represented in the Government. Members are elected each spring by the student body and receive special training for their positions. The association comprises a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Communication Officer, and Student Senators. The Student Government Association president serves in an advisory capacity on the institutional Board of Governors. The Student Involvement Coordinator serves as the advisor to the Student Government Association.
Student Government meets every other week. All general meetings are open to the student body. Meeting dates, times, and locations are posted in the electronic student newsletter and will be posted on the campus calendar of activities. The Executive Board meets on the off weeks.
Any Pierpont student may work through the Student Government Association to effect change on campus, whether or not they are active participants in the SGA. Any student may work through the SGA to suggest an institutional improvement or policy, or share a concern about an existing policy or practice, by attending a meeting or reaching out to the SGA president or the Student Involvement Coordinator. Students may also reach out to studentservices@pierpont.edu for assistance with the process.
Our Purpose
As determined in Article I of the Student Government Constitution and By-Laws,
The objective of SGA is to promote a democratic form of student government, to provide students a forum for student issues, to offer the opportunity for leadership development in the individual, and to promote social, cultural, educational, and recreational activities for students.
